Founded in London in 2004, iBreaks quickly became a powerhouse in the global breakbeat scene, championing some of the most exciting up-and-coming artists of the time. With a commitment to delivering cutting-edge sounds, the label earned a reputation for pushing boundaries and defining the breakbeat movement.
During its original run, iBreaks expanded into four sublabels, each focused on different styles within the breakbeat spectrum, featuring artists from all over the globe.
The Vision & People Behind iBreaks
iBreaks has always been dedicated to pushing breakbeat forward, supporting both established and emerging artists. Our goal is to keep the genre thriving by continuously discovering fresh talent and delivering high-energy beats that stay true to the breakbeat spirit.
At the helm of iBreaks is JMekka, a producer and DJ with decades of experience in the breakbeat scene. Not only is he the driving force behind the label, but he was also a key member and founder of Sigma 7, one of Spain’s biggest old-school breakbeat formations, established in 1997. His deep-rooted connection to the genre has been instrumental in shaping iBreaks’ success, curating a roster that has helped drive the evolution of breakbeat.
The Relaunch & New Chapter
Now, as the label relaunches from its new base in Tenerife, Spain, it continues its mission to push breakbeat forward by supporting both established and up-and-coming talent.
As part of this new chapter, iBreaks is proud to welcome Sigma 7 to the roster—one of Tenerife’s leading old-school breakbeat acts, known for shaping the island’s breakbeat culture. Their addition strengthens iBreaks’ connection to the roots of the genre while continuing to evolve its sound for the future.
